Jochen is an architect, a passionate cyclist and someone who likes to rethink things. Having grown up in the countryside and always been enthusiastic about building solutions himself, he now focuses primarily on sustainable urban development and modern cycling infrastructure.
In 2020, he began advising housing construction companies on sustainable mobility and developing mobility stations. At the same time, he set up a mobile bike service - and later even his own bike store.
However, a trip to Scandinavia gave rise to a completely new idea.
There, Jochen discovered the trend for mobile saunas: small retreats in the middle of nature, by lakes, in forests or in remote locations. The question never left him:
How can you bring this feeling of peace, community and deceleration to the city?
The answer: with a mobile sauna on a bicycle trailer, and so the Radlsauna was born.
Making a sauna mobile sounds simple at first - but it is a real technical challenge. Weight, stability and suitability for everyday use have to work together perfectly.
At the same time, the sauna should remain sustainable and flexible:
no car, no large transporter, no complicated assembly.
The search was therefore on for a bicycle trailer that:
allows a high payload,
has safe brakes,
is stable in city traffic,
remains easy to tow
and offers enough space for individual attachments.
Jochen found the perfect solution for his mobile sauna in the CARLA.
The combination of high payload, open loading area and reliable overrun brake made the CARLA ideal for setting up the wheeled sauna. At the same time, the CARLA is surprisingly easy to tow and can be used flexibly in everyday urban life.
Today, the Radlsauna is on the road in Munich several times a week - pulled by a Hercules Cargo 1000 cargo bike or a simple e-bike.
The CARLA is not only used as a mobile sauna, but also as a transport trailer for the recycling center, a rental trailer and a versatile heavy-duty solution for everyday use.
Especially at events such as the Munich St. Patrick's Day Parade, it becomes clear time and again how much the CARLA inspires people. The mobile sauna trailer attracts attention, starts conversations and inspires many people to come up with their own ideas about sustainable mobility, bike trailers and urban usage concepts.
