Isabella runs Wisby Ram & Cykel, a bike rental business in Visby, Sweden. The historic harbor town on the island of Gotland attracts thousands of tourists every summer - and this is exactly when the high season for her bike rental business begins.
Many visitors want to discover Visby and the surrounding area in a sustainable and flexible way by bike. But the old town quickly gets crowded, especially in summer: narrow streets, lots of people and hardly any parking spaces make it difficult to transport rental bikes by car.
Isabella therefore cycles almost everywhere herself. The idea was obvious:
Why not deliver the rental bikes by bike too?
The challenge
For a bike rental company, mobility means everything. Bicycles have to be transported, delivered and collected flexibly - often directly in the city center, where space on the streets is at a premium.
The company was therefore looking for a cargo trailer for bicycle transportation that:
can transport several bicycles safely,
is quick to load and unload,
remains flexible in city traffic,
requires little space
and works sustainably.
Especially in a tourist city like Visby, finding a parking space in summer is often stressful and time-consuming. A classic van was therefore not an ideal solution.
The solution
During her research, Isabella discovered a photo of a CARLA trailer with a bike holder - the perfect solution for Isabella.
Today, she herself uses a CARLA with fleet transporter in combination with an e-bike to bring rental bikes directly to her customers.
The advantages are evident every day:
Bikes can be charged quickly, transported safely and delivered directly on site - without having to search for a parking space or deal with traffic stress.
But the CARLA is not only in use in summer. Outside of the season, Isabella also uses the cargo trailer for recycling trips and everyday transportation.
She particularly enjoys the reaction of other people. Whether on the road in Visby or at the recycling station - conversations about the trailer and sustainable mobility are constantly arising.
This makes the CARLA not only a means of transportation, but also an eye-catcher and conversation starter.
